Based on the 325 booster card for API consoles, the API 535LA enjoys the quality and flexibility these plug-in cards are known for. This includes variable input control and you can use the polarity switch to set the desired sound. A pad switch is built in as standard, allowing you to avoid overdrive, and a calibrated level mode gives you the accuracy you need. The transformer gain level is variable by using a toggle switch that gives you 3 options. The big advantage of this is that little to no distortion occurs with balanced lines over a long distance. The output gain varies between 6dB to 45dB and the discrete 2510 and 2520 op-amps ensure a warm sound at all times. An LED light keeps you informed of the clipping level, so again, one less worry. The API 535LA is perfect for providing extra warmth to your mix or, for example, a keyboard setup. But also microphone preamps or other peripherals not equipped with level control can make convenient use of the 535LA.
