General
On his album 'Inferno', Marty Friedman (known for Megadeth and Jason Becker) used all kinds of ENGL amplifiers including the Special Edition, Powerball, Steve Morse signature and the Invader. After an analysis of what he did and didn't use, he teamed up with ENGL to create a Frankenstein of amp heads to encompass his sound and called it the INFERNO. This tube amp head has a power output of 100 watts and houses four ECC83s in the preamp and four EL34s in the power amp. It features two channels (clean and lead), each with its own 3-band EQ and gain boost switch, which means you've actually got 4 channels at your disposal.
INFERNO: fully equipped
If you like to use a lot of gain on the lead channel with the gain switch on, there's an adjustable noise gate if you want your sound clean and tight. For switching easily between rhythm and lead volume within the same channel, the INFERNO has a second master volume control on the rear. Together with the other functions, this is switchable by means of a foot pedal. You can also connect your favourite effects pedals thanks to an available FX loop that can be used parallel as well as serial. Actually, you don't even need to be a Friedman fan to appreciate everything this complete ENGL E766 Marty Friedman INFERNO tube amp head has to offer!
