A stage block, or stage box, is a very practical and popular way to minimise the pile of cables on stage. The end of the long, thick multi-core cable (or snake) that runs to the mixer is equipped with a bundle of XLR and/or jack cables. The other end is connected to the stageblock itself. The XLR/jack connectors on this box are female and allow musicians to plug in their instruments and microphones. As a result, the stage is not filled with long, separate cables that run from several devices to the mixing console. Longer snake cables are often delivered including a cable reel.
