A Guide for Independent Artists to Boost Promotion with Facebook Pixel

As an independent artist, promoting your events is essential to getting the word out and ensuring a successful turnout. In today’s digital age, utilising social media is an effective way to reach a wide audience. Facebook, in particular, is a powerful tool that can help independent artists boost event promotion and drive ticket sales. In this comprehensive guide, guest blogger Brookmyer McIntyre explores how you can use Facebook Pixel to promote your events and reach more people.

What is Facebook Pixel?

Facebook Pixel is a code that you install on your website that allows you to track visitor behaviour and gather data on their interactions with your site. This information can then be used to target specific audiences with ads and create custom audiences for retargeting. By using Facebook Pixel, you can gather valuable information about your website visitors and use that data to drive more conversions and sales.

How can Facebook Pixel Boost your Event Promotion?

Facebook Pixel is a powerful tool for event promotion because it allows you to create custom audiences based on the behaviour of your website visitors. This means that you can target specific groups of people who have shown an interest in your events, increasing the likelihood of them taking action and purchasing tickets. Additionally, Facebook Pixel can help you gather data on the effectiveness of your event promotion efforts, allowing you to make data-driven decisions and optimise your strategies.

Install in 4 steps

Installing Facebook Pixel is simple. To get started, you’ll need to have a Facebook Ads account. If you don’t already have one, you can sign up for one for free. Once you have your account, follow these steps to install the pixel:

  1. Go to the Facebook Ads Manager and select the Pixels tab.
  2. Click the Create a Pixel button.
  3. Give your pixel a name and select the website where you want to install it.
  4. Follow the instructions to install the pixel on your website. You can either copy and paste the code into the header of your website or use a plugin if you’re using a content management system like WordPress.

How to Use Facebook Pixel for Event Promotion

1. Create Custom Audiences

One of the most powerful features of Facebook Pixel is the ability to create custom audiences. Custom audiences allow you to target specific groups of people based on their behaviour on your website. To create a custom audience, go to the Facebook Ads Manager and select the Audiences tab. From there, click the Create Audience button and select Custom Audience from the drop-down menu.

You’ll want to target people who have shown an interest in your events. For example, you can target people who have visited the event page on your website or people who have added an event to their calendar.  Or you can customise based on the demographics of your fans.

2. Set up Event Tracking

Facebook Pixel allows you to track specific events on your website, such as ticket purchases or sign-ups for a newsletter. To set up event tracking, go to the Facebook Ads Manager and select the Pixels tab. From there, click the Manage button and select the pixel you want to use. Then, click the Set Up button and select Track Events.

Once you’ve set up event tracking, you can track the effectiveness of your event promotion efforts and track conversions.  Make ads that target specific events and measure if they convert fans to make take the action.

3. Create Facebook Ads

Once your custom audiences and event tracking are set up, you can use Facebook Ads to promote your events and reach more people. To create a Facebook Ad for your event, go to the Facebook Ads Manager and select the Campaigns tab. From there, click the Create button and select the objective for your campaigns, such as traffic, conversions, or engagement.

When creating your ad, you can use images and videos related to your event to grab people’s attention and generate excitement.  When creating a new ad, duplicate existing ads to all the information like target audience or event tracking.  Just edit it with the new content.

  • Use clear and concise language to explain what your event is and why people should attend.  Your Primary text should have an average of 80 characters and not exceed 125. Fans respond to primary text which asks questions or uses numbers best.
  • Offer a compelling call-to-action, such as a discount on tickets or a limited-time offer.  Urge fans to take action now, not later.
  • Test different ad formats and targeting options to see what works best for your audience.  Put up your ad and make adjustments in two-week intervals to analyse data.

Conclusion

By using Facebook Pixel to promote your events, independent artists can reach more people and drive ticket sales. Facebook’s powerful features can help you gather valuable data and make decisions to optimise your efforts. Whether you’re just starting or looking to expand your reach, Facebook Pixel is a valuable tool that can help you boost event promotion and reach more people.
