Made of little more than six wooden boards and maybe one or two snare wires, cajons are fairly simple instruments. On the other hand, there's a lot of room for expansion so feel free to explore our well-stocked cajon accessory department and discover awesome add-ons by big names like Meinl, Sela and Schlagwerk.
Cajon Protection
Most cajons are made of wood and deserve a little protection against moisture, dirt and impacts. With a purpose-made protective cover, you can safely get your cajon around. Cajons are all roughly the same size so it shouldn't be hard to find a matching cover or gig bag after you've measured up your model and matched it up with the specifications of the cover or bag you're interested in.
Cajon Pads
If you play your cajon a lot, you've probably already discovered that a wooden box doesn’t make the comfiest seat. Luckily, cajon pads are a thing. These comfort-enhancing cajon accessories come in the form of slim mats or foam-padded cushions, and the only thing to bear in mind when you're thinking about picking one up are the dimensions of your cajon.
Snares and Other Cajon Accessories
Snare wires are the one sound effect that almost every cajon features as standard, but you can also expand your cajon with add-ons like tambourine-style jingles, an extra snare, a castanet effect or a shaker. Some of these accessories are secured to the cajon itself, while others need to be fixed to the your foot or set up beside the cajon. A kick drum-style cajon pedal is another awesome add-on that can be used to play the bass with your foot so you can keep your hands free to slap up more complex rhythms.
