If you're making a list of virtuoso guitarists with a distinctive style, then Eric Johnson should be near the top somewhere. As a tribute, Fender collaborated with the master guitarist himself to develop the signature model: the Eric Johnson Stratocaster. This guitar was made with the very best components and combines vintage styling with Eric's personal modern modifications. The artist's critical ear aided in developing the specially voiced pickups, resulting in one of the best-sounding Strats of all time. What's more, it's also strikingly beautiful!

Special Features of the Eric Johnson Stratocaster

The vintage-accurate 1957-style lightweight alder body has an ultra-thin, Custom Shop-quality nitrocellulose lacquer for improved resonance. Johnson opted for a quartersawn, one-piece maple neck with a V-profile (also with a vintage-tinted nitro lacquer), for extra strength and stability. The guitarist prefers a modern 12-inch fretboard radius with extra-polished medium jumbo frets for an ultra-low action and effortless bends while the vintage-style machine heads are staggered from the bottom E to the top E, eliminating the need for a string tree and resulting in improved tone and longer sustain without any added and unwanted buzz.

Specially Voiced EJ Single-Coil Pickups

It took 19 sets of prototype pickups before Johnson found the sound he was looking for. These single coils, modified by Fender's Custom Shop, are equipped with a new type of coil and special windings that combine to produce the characteristically smooth Eric Johnson sound. Clear, sparkling, transparent and with rich mids. Additionally, this EJ Strat has been fitted with one other famous Eric Johnson modification since the tone pots are connected to the neck and bridge pickup instead of the standard neck/middle configuration. This allows for a more efficient use of the bridge pickup and provides a warm and punchy tone.

The Eric Johnson Stratocaster offers you amazing Custom-Shop quality in a factory model. It comes with its own blonde Fender Deluxe case with black ends and Case candy including a leather guitar strap, cable and chromed Ashtray bridge cover.
