The Focusrite Clarett 8Pre is a multi-channel thunderbolt interface equipped with eight high-quality Focusrite microphone preamplifiers. The mic preamps featured in this interface are used in some of the most prestigious recording studios around the world, as they ensure minimal noise and distortion with an enormous dynamic range. With 18 inputs and 20 outputs, the Clarett 8Pre has more than enough connectors for all your daily studio activities. The Thunderbolt performance ensures extremely low latency that's actually less than 1 ms. Furthermore, the interface features high-quality A-D / D-A conversation up to 192 kHz and 24 bits. Crystal-clear audio and solid synchronisation with Mac and Windows is guaranteed.
Design
The Clarett 8Pre has just about the same style as its Scarlett cousin. The housing of the 8Pre is made of sturdy metal, so you can count on it being rugged. Not only is the front panel comprehensive and user-friendly, but the unit also features an attractive black and white design. When it comes down to it, the Clarett OctoPre is a more than complete audio interface for an incredibly competitive price.

Ik heb thuis mijn studio waar ik mijn beats produceer. En baalde dat ik niet verder kon werken. Na lang verder zoeken naar info wat bij mij het beste past, kwam ik uit bij Focusrite Clarett 8Pre Thunderbolt audio interface. Ik heb hier geen moment spijt van gehad. Ik kreeg hem makkelijk werkend en kon er gelijk mee aan de slag. Ik raad deze zeer zeker aan als je niet van te lang puzzelen houdt.
Ik ben trouwens van een Windows naar Imac overgestapt zodat ik beter gebruik kan maken van de optie Thunderbolt. Waar ik overigens echt tevreden over ben want ik merk echt verschil in latency.

Had voorheen Tascam (US1641) en was het uitblijven van updates voor MacOS beu, zoals velen voor mij overgegaan naar Focusrite.
Eerste indrukken (na 1 avondje opnemen) : super snel, weinig latency. De functies Air en het schakelen tussen LINE/INSTR gaat via de bijgeleverde software, dus niet via een knopje op het apparaat.
Air functie heeft duidelijk en mooi effect.
Ingangssignalen moet je duidelijk opendraaien, mooi schaalbaar met klikjes die je voelt en een stevig knopje (wat een verschil met het weke plastic dat ik voorheen voelde).
Lastig was dat 6 van de 8 de inganeng aan de achterzijde zitten, inbouwapparaat > dus losse korte kabeltjes nummeren of een patchpanel aanschaffen.
Ook bij herstarten/ontwaken van de Mac geen enkel probleem.

Je hoort direct dat Focusrite gebruik heeft gemaakt van hoge kwaliteit AD/DA converter want de helderheid van de sound is niet te vergelijken met andere interfaces waarmee ik heb gewerkt tot dusverre.
Ik blijf het jammer vinden dat de AIR modus niet op de frontpanel te schakelen is maar dat is eigenlijk in gebruik geen probleem.
