Meet Focusrite's flagship interface: the Clarett 8Pre X. Focusrite got their start producing high-end microphone preamplifiers, and while they still work in the high-end segment, a large part of their assortment is now geared toward recording musicians and home producers.
Design
The Clarett 8Pre X is a 24-bit Thunderbolt audio interface with a sample rate of 192 kHz. It's compatible with both Windows and Mac, and it features two built-in headphone connectors with their own volume controls for monitoring applications. The solid, rugged interface features an attractive red and black design, and you'll find a large display with parameter levels on the front panel.
Complete audio interface
Just as you might expect from a company life Focusrite, the Clarett 8Pre X offers crystal-clear conversion and an excellent dynamic range. Furthermore, the interface is of course equipped with Focusrite's famous microphone preamplifiers, which are based on the original ISAs. As a result, you can expect exceptional clarity, combined with the characteristic sound that made Focusrite famous.

Heerlijk om op je mac aan te sluiten en via Focusrite Control de Air mode aan te zetten (let wel op dat je dat alleen op lichtere instrumenten/vocalen doet). Biedt echt een hoop opties waarvoor je normaal naar high end 2k+ apparaten moet kijken!

Wat ik een minpunt vind is dat er standaard geen thunderbolt kabel bijgeleverd wordt, deze heb ik er los bij moeten bestellen à 44 euro!
Ook wil ik adviseren om de prijs goed in de gaten te houden, die schommelt nogal op en neer. Ik heb hem zelf gekocht bij Bax voor 750 euro, terwijl hij gisterenavond er op stond voor ruim boven de 1100 euro. Nu is hij weer gezakt naar 912 euro. Een beetje vreemd.....

Pluspuntje is ook dat dit model alle XLR aansluitingen aan de achterkant heeft waardoor je niet zoveel kabels in het zicht hebt.
