General
As well as two mic/line/Hi-Z inputs, the expanded Forusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen interface supplies an extra two line inputs that can be used to hook up an extra pair of external microphone preamps to record a total of four microphones at the same time. These extra inputs can also support keyboards, synthesizers and drum machines and, even if you're working with older synth hardware, it's fully accommodated by the fitted MIDI in and out ports.
Worry-Free Recording
The fourth-generation of Focusrite's little red box also takes things up another level with the addition of a few fresh functions. Via the Auto Gain function, the recording level is essentially set for you, and via the Clip Safe function, sudden volume peaks are efficiently countered to prevent recordings from getting distorted.
Live Streaming
Live streamers are also fully accommodated thanks to the included Loopback function, which makes it easier to route through and add the sound of other apps, like your browser, Youtube, a gaming platform or Spotify to your live stream or DAW production. This neat feature completely removes the need to mess with any extra external audio and video equipment.

Geeft voor mij geweldig geluid met niet merkbare latency (vertraging) i.c.m. MIDI.
Ik heb een digitaal orgel, die ik via de MIDI interface van de Scarlett 4i4 4th gen. verbind met mijn pc. Daarop gebruik ik Sweelinq als pijporgel software, en de audio stuur ik uit naar de audio-in van mijn orgel + een los boxen set voor een vollere geluidsbeleving.
Op de audio-in heb ik een bluetooth muziekontvanger hangen (via 3,5 -> 6,25 adapter), waardoor ik via bijv. mijn telefoon er ook gebruik van kan maken.

Very good interface for future-proofing my home studio in case I begin to take this hobby more seriously. I have high impedence monitoring headphones and thus 4th gen was a clear option on my list. With two connectors in the front, I can plug in a guitar and a mic thus have a seamless experience. Though a lot of settings are in the software, the input as well as output knobs in the front are good enough to give a tactile control on your music.
With literally zero experience or professional training, I was able to set up the interface, connect all my devices and set up ableton properly in five minutes. The interface is sleek and looks good on the table without a need for extra space. I am sure the extra two inputs and outputs would come handy when I decide to play live or work with a larger group of musicians.

Upgrade na 10 jr met een instapmodel gewerkt te hebben, en wat een verbetering! Het geluid is zoveel beter, geen enkele ruis etc. Diy model gekocht omdat ik graag de optie wilde hebben om drums op te nemen (en daarvoor meer wilde dan de 2 ingangen van de 2i2. Loopback inspelen was ff opzoeken, maar eigenlijk uiteindelijk vrij simpel, en werkt perfect in combinatie met Ableton. De nieuwe software van Focusrite en de bediening van het apparaat werken intuïtief en ook als dit je 1ste audioface is, kun je hier prima mee uit de voeten.

Voor mij een flinke upgrade, want ik had een 2i2 gen 1.
Ik gebruikte hem thuis voor demo's met vocals, gitaar en bass.
Inmiddels een computer update en nu dus een 4i4.
De 4i4 ziet er netjes en degelijk uit.
Leds achter de knoppen is gewoon heel vet.
Ik ga hem veel gebruiken voor re-ampen dus ik zocht een interface met 4 uitgangen.
Werkt overigens prima met een Mac en Logic pro.

Top interface. Enorme verbeteringen tov de vorige generaties. Verschil in kwaliteit is heel goed merkbaar. De interface is heel intuïtief in het gebruik en ook de nieuwe features, Auto, Air en Safe modus, zijn een welkome aanvulling.
Je kunt 'm met bijgeleverde voeding zelfs 'standalone' gebruiken met een iPad of iPhone. Voor een vaste homerecording opstelling is dit niet nodig en werkt de interface via (powered) usb-c.
De verlichting van de knoppen en vu-meter zijn mooi, subtiel toch duidelijk en niet te fel. Alles bij elkaar een zeer fijne en compacte interface voor een prima prijs.

Hele fijne interface voor een prima prijs. De nieuwe (Rednet!) AD en DA converters maken echt een groot verschil in kwaliteit met de vorige Scarletts. Ook de loopback functie is ideaal om bijv. systemwide VST's te kunnen draaien. Deze routing kun je eenvoudig instellen in de software. De headphone amp is ook een stuk verbeterd. Ik ben er heel tevreden mee!
