General
The Behringer MEDIA 40USB is a set of two reliable and robust digital monitor speakers. These carefully designed speakers are each equipped with two internal amplifiers - one for the tweeter and one for the woofer. A big advantage of a bi-amp system is that it delivers a super-linear frequency response for a particularly balanced sound. Furthermore, these speakers also give you the option of connecting a digital audio source such as a laptop via USB, or you can connect an analogue audio device via the jack or RCA inputs.

I'm happy enough with these but they're not all I hoped for. Let's start with the bad. Firstly the volume pot at low volume isn't balanced. This isn't an unusual problem for volume knobs on anything but as I mainly wanted these as glorified PC speakers they'll often be at low volume. This was bad enough that I nearly returned these but the problem can be worked around by turning down the master on the source and up on the knob. Second, I couldn't find out before I purchased what the USB chip used was. It turns out to be C-Media CM102-A+/102S+. It does what it should but I was hoping for something better that potentially had ASIO drivers available but no.
The good news is that the active aspect of these is silent with no noise. Turn up the volume to full with no signal from source and the noise is very low indeed. That is really what saved me from worrying about the unbalanced volume knob. They sound good too. I'm currently using them as speakers rather than true monitors and am very pleased as they're obviously streets ahead of PC speakers. They're rear ported so get them up close to wall to improve the bass. The sound detail and stereo image is good but do appreciate you've only got small drivers so don't expect miracles.
So I'd recommend them, but the flaky volume pot took the shine off initially. I had some potential usage ideas for them, and one worked and one won't. They worked directly connected to a Raspberry Pi running as a streaming media player, but I won't be able to use them as an ASIO device on a diy edrum project. Truly versatile though, and handsome enough units too.

maar wanneer op usb aangesloten(vanwege slechte geluidskaart in mijn laptop), is het volume erg hard.
daardoor staat (voor achtergrondmuziek) de volumeknop bijna dicht, en dan is de muziek links en rechts niet goed meer verdeeld, en de muziekkwaliteit is minder.
het is een prachtig setje, met veel volume. maar niet handig voor op het bureau

De reden dat ik dit compact speakersetje heb besteld is omdat ik een simpel speakersetje voor bij de computer nodig had.
(dit is toch wel wat beter om neer te zetten, in plaats van een dikke pa set om naar je muziek te luisteren)
Deze set gaat best hard op de helft van de volume knop!
(in combinatie met MacBook Pro is het plug en play)

Ik heb deze set aangeschaft voor bij de computer. Via de USB aan de computer aangesloten en via de extra line-in ingang kon ik gelijk ook mijn platenspeler aansluiten. Handig. Aansluiten was simpel. Er wordt een powerkabel meegeleverd en een kabel om de speakers onderling te verbinden. Denk er dus aan extra bekabeling bij te bestellen. Dit was nergens te vinden en ook na een belletje met Bax wisten ze het niet, dus bij deze. Je zou verwachten dat het een kleine service van Behringer is om op z'n minst een USB kabel mee te leveren, maar goed.
Het geluid is prima. Ik had hiervoor een Creative Cambridge set met losse subwoofer. Deze deden het na ruim 14 jaar nog steeds prima, maar ik schuif deze set door naar de kids. Hopelijk gaan deze ook minstens zo lang mee. Qua geluid is de Behringer identiek met als voordeel dat je geen losse subwoofer nodig hebt. Ik mis wel iets in de hoog bij deze speakers en helaas kun je bij deze set de treble en bass dus niet een beetje bijstellen. Goed dat lossen we softwarematig dan maar op.
De speakers vol opendraaien hoeft niet, want als je de volume knop maar iets open draait dan komt er al flink geluid uit. Goed punt van de speakers is dat ze vrij zuiver van klank zijn, dus een MP3 met te hoge compressie vis je er gelijk tussenuit.

Ik heb de behringer MEDIA 40USB monitor set aangeschaft omdat ik het geluid van mijn TV erg slecht vond. Ik heb ze aangesloten op de hoofdtelefoonuitgang van de TV. Wat een verschil, deze kleine luidsprekertjes klinken geweldig en zien er nog leuk uit ook. Ik heb voor kennissen ooit een soundbar van sony aangeschaft (factor 4 duurder) maar deze luidsprekers klinken veel en veel beter. Zelfs het laag kunnen ze redelijk aan. Ik stond me te verbazen over het geluidsniveau dat ze kunnen produceren. Het geluid klinkt natuurlijk en gebalanceerd. TV programma's zijn hierdoor bijzonder goed te volgen. Erg tevreden, en ook over de korte levertijd van Bax. De kabel om de beide luidsprekers aan elkaar te verbinden gaat er moeilijk in, maar valt er daardoor ook niet gemakkelijk uit.
