The Showtec Phantom 300 LED Matrix moving head is a 5 x 5 matrix with 25 LEDs that can be operated autonomously via pixel-mapping. This way, you can have certain LEDs light up to create letters, for instance. The RGBW LED diodes are 10 watts each. If you want to use DMX to operate the Phantom 300, you can choose between 12, 20 or 120 channels. How ever many channels you pick, you can use your DMX to select one of the presets for colours, programs, animations, gobos, and letters. Because this matrix can also be driven with 120 channels, it's equipped with control protocols ARTnet and Kling-net, which means it can even handle low-resolution video imagery. It also features IFS technology so you can synchronise it with other IFS fixtures.

ARTnet and Kling-net

These days, lighting fixtures seem to require more and more DMX channels in order to utilise all they have to offer. That's where control protocols ARTnet and Kling-net come in handy. Generally speaking, a conventional DMX controller can handle up to 512 channels within one universe. ARTnet, on the other hand, can control up to 32,768 universes, each with 512 channels, via Ethernet. Kling-net takes care of the distribution of real-time video data to various displays such as LED panels, also via Ethernet.
