There are some lighting effects that perform well in automatic or sound-activated mode, while others offer more options when operated via an external lighting controller. Some light effects, such as certain analogue stroboscopes can only be operated by stroboscope controllers, while other devices such as LED-spots, moving heads, scanners and lasers can be operated with a DMX lighting controller. Create programs beforehand that you can call up easily during shows. For digital operation, there are various DMX software programs that can be installed and used on a laptop alongside a connected DMX interface. What's more, there are light controllers with a unique protocol for operating basic functionality, or that can only be used in combination with certain devices, which can be found in the specific controllers category. Lighting fixtures like classic PAR spots are kitted out for DMX and need add-ons like DMX dimmer packs and DMX switch packs so that they can be remotely activated, brightened and dimmed.
