Avantone Pro Announces CV-95 Microphone
Box of surprises
Studio engineers love opening packages just like everyone else. So they'll probably love opening the box this CV-95 microphone comes in. That box fits into its own padded flight case along with a separate power supply (PS-1BV), a custom shock mount, a pop filter and the necessary cables. The power supply is necessary because regular phantom power isn't sufficient for this microphone. With the PS-1BV, you can determine the pickup pattern yourself, which ranges from omnidirectional to cardioid to cardioid to figure 8 and six steps in between.
This is a real workhorse for the studio. As it says in the user manual, it performs remarkably well for such a reasonably-priced microphone. It can be used to record vocals as well as instruments. With a frequency response of 20 to 20,000 Hz, the CV-95 captures the entire relevant spectrum and can handle a heck of a fortissimo thanks to a maximum SPL of 130 dB.
