ENGL Ironbass: Tube Bass Guitar Amp Head With Character
Guitarists were already familiar with the ENGL Ironball amps, which are especially popular in the metal community. The ENGL Ironball family has a new member in the small but powerful ENGL Ironbass amp head! It's a hybrid tube bass guitar amp with 800 watts of power at 4 ohms, and 500 watts at 8 ohms. That's pretty potent for a lunchbox-sized bass amp head.
Besides the traditional Bass, Lo-Mid, Hi-Mid, Treble and Presence controls, the Ironbass's front panel also has Gain and Drive knobs. Two ECC83 tubes in the ENGL amp's preamp section are responsible for the amount of gain and drive. The Drive mode can be switched on or off using a push button, which is great if you're looking for a cleaner bass sound. Furthermore, you can simply activate the Bass Boost button for some more low end, and there's even an Ultra Bright button. All in all, the Ironbass leaves plenty of room for you to create your own sound, and while it's obviously geared slightly towards a more metal-inclined audience, it's versatile enough to serve you well in virtually any genre.
Finally, let's not forget to mention the Ironbass's look, which is just as characteristic as its sound. With its durable steel housing that features a scratched and weathered ENGL logo on the side, ENGL has once again succeeded in delivering an amp that is impossibly hard to miss!
