Focusrite Launches 2nd Gen Scarlett Line
When Focusrite released their first generation of Scarlett USB audio interfaces, no one could have predicted the phenomenon they would become. These fully USB-powered audio interfaces were affordable and they were made with outstanding studio-grade parts. The Scarlett series became the best selling audio interfaces in the world, and rightly so. Now the whole world is watching to see what Focusrite's second generation of Scarlett interfaces has in store.
Improved on every front
Let's start with the exterior of the new series of Scarlett audio interfaces. The entire look has quite an industrial edge, and as such it now features a smooth metal gain knob. Next, the latency—the delay that can occur when you record instruments in real-time or work with plugins—has been reduced. The microphone and instrument amplifiers have been improved as well, and now have even more gain. Guitarists who have an electric guitar with a high output signal won't have to worry about input clipping, either! Finally, a safety has been built in to prevent the power from surging or cutting out, which keeps the analogue circuit fully protected.
1 + 1 = 3
The new line consists of the Scarlett 2i2, 2i4, 6i6, Scarlett Solo, Solo Studio Pack, 2i2 Studio, 18i8 and 18i20. When you buy a Scarlett interface, you're getting an arsenal of plugins and recording software, so you can get to work recording your tracks right way. If you're just getting started, then the best option would be to go for the Scarlett Studio bundle, which consists of a Scarlett USB audio interface, condenser microphone, headphones, and an XLR cable so you can connect the mic to the interface. Add the included software to the mix, and you're getting a complete studio solution delivered right to your doorstep, and a compact one at that.
