Heavy, yet Portable: the JBL EON618S
A subwoofer with an 18-inch speaker and a 1000-watt amplifier for 134 dB of bass; that must be heavy, right? You might be surprised to know that it weighs just 35.5 kg! Yes, that's right, you no longer have to worry about giving yourself a back injury every time you need to transport a serious subwoofer. The JBL EON618S is this subwoofer's name and making noise is its game!
It's all about the bass!
You already know that subwoofers produce the low tones. You'll also know that they use a big speaker to do so. The bigger the better! This also makes them heavier than other speakers. The JBL EON618S has been designed, however, so that bigger doesn't necessarily mean heavier. The blueprint for this JBL subwoofer was to produce as much bass as possible while weighing as few kilos as possible. The successful result is the EON618S. With a 1000-watt amplifier and an 18-inch speaker, this subwoofer has enough power to shake the foundations.
JBL EON618S: well connected
The subwoofer produces low tones between 42.5 Hz and 150 Hz. It can be connected, of course, to external speakers that can be placed on top via a pole mount. If it's connected to other speakers from the EON600 series then you can choose to set the crossover frequency to EON. This setting automatically divides the whole frequency spectrum over all the speakers available. Whether you use the 618S on its own or with other speakers, you can choose from 80, 100 or 120 Hz. Best of all, you can control everything with the special EON Connect app, which allows you to adjust the EQ, add delay or control a whole host of other functions.
