Rane Sold to InMusic
You might be questioning why a relatively successful company like Rane would allow themselves to be bought, especially as they've got a number of years of product experience behind them and a bright future in the DJ market ahead of them. The answer is simply that the founders decided it was time for them to stop.
"Rane Corporation is pleased to announce that cofounders Linda Arink and Dennis Bohn have agreed to sell Rane Corporation to InMusic LLC. The transaction is set to be completed this summer. After the sale Ms. Arink and Mr. Bohn plan to step down and retire."
It seems financial reasons may have played a part in the decision too, however. More quotes in the press release stated "...with the added resources, engineering talent, and additional IP, InMusic is an ideal buyer for Rane Corporation and will help it grow now and in the future."
So, what is the future for Rane?
At the moment, it seems it's not entirely sure what will happen to the company or its products. With Rane being based in America and InMusic working largely internationally, there's a chance that we'll be seeing more of Rane in Europe. Rane is proud of the fact that its products are produced in America, however, and we'll just have to wait and see if that continues. What is known is that certain parts of the business will continue to function in the same locations as they presently do. As for the rest, time will tell.
Regardless, we hope that good DJ products will continue to come from Rane/InMusic.
