Musikmesse 2016: dB Technologies Opera Series Renovated
The popular affordable speakers from dB Technologies' Opera series have gotten a serious makeover, inside and out. The brand is currently showing the Operas at the Prolite + Sound 2016, right next door to the Musikmesse.
Versatile speakers
The new-and-improved Opera series currently consists of three active PA speakers. The Opera 10 is the smallest of the trio, with a 10-inch woofer. It makes a great choice if you're looking for an affordable, yet strong and clear speaker for situations that don't require too much in the low frequency range, such as vocal amplification in smaller spaces. You can also easily use this speaker as a floor monitor, just as you can the other speakers in the series. All of the speakers offer a double input, so you can connect multiple devices, such as a mic and an instrument, or a mic and a source with a line output. That means you don't necessarily need to set everything up via a mixing console, because the speaker can do it all! You can even add a second speaker to the mix.
Quality audio in every size
The next size up is the Opera 12. This speaker is equipped with a 12-inch woofer, which means that you can count on noticeably fuller bass. That's not super important for vocal amplification, but it'll come in handy if you regularly amplify music (live or recorded) with your PA set. For genres such as electronic music, it's important to have deeper bass reproduction, and then the best choice is going to be the Opera 15. These speakers can easily be combined with dB Technologies subwoofers. You'll find that the asymmetrical horn has been improved on all three speakers, and you have 8 different EQ presets at your disposal thanks to the internal DSP, so you can make quick adjustments to the sound according to the situation. No matter which of the three speakers you choose, they all perform above average in their price class when it comes to power, clarity and sound dispersion.
