Musikmesse 2016: Pioneer HRM-5 and HRM-6 headphones
From NAMM to Musikmesse, Pioneer is always at the centre of attention with something new. It doesn't always have to be imposing DJ controllers though, as they've shown us most recently at Musikmesse 2016 with the unveiling of the HRM5 and HRM6 headphones. Affordable DJ studio accessories with good, solid audio—that's the name of this game.
Specifications
While Pioneer has announced two different models with two different price tags, they share a lot of similarities when it comes to the specs. The HRM-5 is certainly the more affordable of the two, but don't let that fool you because with a frequency response of 5 Hz - 30 kHz, you're going to get a nice, full range reproduction of your mix. The range on the HRM-6 headphones is even broader, spanning 5 Hz to 40 kHz. With 100 dB and 102 dB of volume respectively, you know you'll be hearing your audio in all its glory. Of course, we're not suggesting that you listen to your music at those kinds of volumes...
Comfort
Headphones need to be comfortable, especially when you're wearing them for hours on end in the studio. Luckily, Pioneer understands that, and they've done a nice job at ensuring that these over-ear headphones feel as great as they sound. The ear cushions are made of soft polyurethane material, and if you manage to ever wear them down, you can simply remove them and replace them! The cable is removable as well, so you can easily customise the length to suit your needs in any given situation. Finally, the headphones come complete with a 6.3mm adapter for the gold-plated 3.5mm TRS jack, and you also get a handy storage pouch.
You'll have to have a little patience though, as these models are expected to become available in June of 2016. Keep an eye on the product pages for the current stock status!
