NAMM 2016: Roli Seaboard Rise 49 USB Keyboard
Have you ever had the chance to try out the original Seaboard Rise 25? If you have, you'll already know that this USB keyboard requires a bit of getting used to, but offers a revolutionary new way of creating music. In fact, the instrument has already won a number of awards. No wonder Roli has come up with a new incarnation! The Roli Seaboard Rise 49 boasts the same functionality as its predecessor, but is twice as big.
A real breakthrough
With the Seaboard, Roli has started a revolution in synthesizer land. In essence this remarkable instrument is a keyboard, but it also allows for the expressive possibilities of a violin. The entire keyboard basically functions as a giant ribbon controller, which means you'll have to hit it at the exact right spot in order to get the notes you want. Once you figure out how to do that, however, you'll be able to enjoy the plethora of new options this USB keyboard has to offer. Horizontal and vertical slides, aftertouch, lift (speed of the note-off) - all of these things weren't available before. And the best news of all? All of these expressive options are polyphonic!
Roli's very own software, called Equator, allows you to make the most of the Seaboard Rise 49's polyphonic expression. You can use it to connect the keyboard's controls to your synthesis parameters in numerous ways. Oscillators, sample playback, FM synthesis, a range of filters... It'll take you a while to explore all of Equator's many options.
Were you intrigued by the original Seaboard Rise, but was the keyboard just a little to small for your tastes? Now's your chance to finally experience this ground-breaking new way of music production. Keep an eye on the product page for up-to-date information on availability and pricing!
