NAMM 2016: Teenage Engineering - the Pocket Operators Are Back!
Remember Teenage Engineering's Pocket Operators - the calculator-like devices that turned out to be pocket-sized synthesizers? Last year, the innovative Swedish company issued the first three, and now they've introduced a new batch with the PO-20, the PO-24 and the PO-28. Get ready to have some more fun!
Not your average pocket calculator
Don't let the low-key looks of the Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators fool you - these compact synthesizers can do more than you'd think. They're basically tiny grooveboxes, as they come with their own built-in step sequencers, but can you think of any other synth or groovebox that can fit in your jacket pocket? The Pocket Operators can, and that's part of what makes them so much fun. Even though they fit in the palm of your hand and lack a flashy housing, they allow you to produce truly unique grooves - especially if you link a couple of these little synths together.
It's hard to capture in words what it is exactly that makes these Teenage Engineering music devices so special. Take a look at the embedded videos, however, and you'll get the gist of it. These Pocket Operators really sell themselves - you don't have to be a synth geek to figure that out!
