New Fender Deluxe Active Series Bridges Gap Between Mexico and USA
Fender is replacing their entire Deluxe series guitars and basses. The Stratocasters, Telecasters, Precision, Jazz, and Dimension basses in their existing series are all ripe for a make-over and the result is a complete new series of Deluxe Active models.
A Fender representative told Bax Music: "Replacing the entire range fits into our strategy of creating a more logical, clear product line. The last Deluxe series was a little fragmented as far as appearance and specs were concerned. With this new range, we've got a complete line of instruments that fits perfectly between the Mexican Standard, the Classic, the American Standard, and the Specialty models."
Made in Mexico
This new series is made in the Fender factories in Mexico. Each model is constructed according to the very highest standards of quality in order to contend with the fierce competition in today's market. These instruments are therefore top-notch, and the price is right too. At the end of the day, this series was built to accommodate the versatility of any musician, so they're definitely good value for money. The Fender Deluxe Active series is a range of high-quality instruments designed for hard-working musicians on a budget who play to live, and live to play.
We've already written about the new Strat and Tele series here and here, so this time, we'll be paying special attention to what Fender has to offer to the bassists among us. At the international Summer NAMM in Nashville, Fender presented 3 new Precision basses, 7 Jazz basses and 6 Dimensions this past week. These are hybrid models that offer the authentic Fender sound of a passive bass in combination with an intelligent active system to broaden the sound palette. The instrument itself is therefore a lot more flexible, suitable for virtually any musical style. All these new basses are true performers that are sure to add value to any studio recording or stage performance! What's more, each one features a Fender HiMass bridge and a C-profile neck with a fast 12-inch fretboard radius.
Fender Deluxe Precisions
The Deluxe Precision basses are all 4-string models and, just like in the previous series, feature a single-coil Jazz pickup at the bridge and a split-coil Precision pickup in front. By means of a mini switch, you can engage the active system as desired, which turn tone controls into cut/boost controls that you can adjust with great accuracy. The Precisions come in three colours: 3-Color Sunburst, Olympic White and a brand-new colour, Surf Pearl.
Deluxe Active Jazz basses
In the Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass series, there are three 5-string models available in 3-Color Sunburst, Olympic White and Surf Pearl. With their slightly smaller machine heads, these basses have a more modern appearance than the 4-string variety that is available in 3-Color Sunburst, Olympic White, Surf Pearl as well as a Natural version with a maple fretboard and black block inlays.
Deluxe Active Dimension Bass
Finally, we come to the Dimension basses. These all possess a powerful 18-volt preamp to drive the two humbuckers adding to the panorama of sounds! This 4-string all-rounder is available in Olympic White, Natural and Aged Cherry Burst. The 5-string versions come in Aged Cherry Burst, Olympic White and Natural—as of yet, Fender has not released any images of the last two colours. We also expect to receive photos of the 4-strings in Olympic White and Natural soon.
