New Limited Edition Tama Snare Drums!
Smack-dab in the middle of summer, Tama presents some pretty unique snare drums: two 14 x 8-inch Starphonic models and a 14 x 6.5-inch Sound Lab Projects Mirage Crystal Ice. As an added bonus, they're also throwing in an acrylic version of the Cocktail Jam.
Only 50 available!
We were already familiar with the Tama Starphonic series, a range of snare drums with a rich, crispy sound and a unique shell construction. Now, Tama has added two new models to that series in an extremely limited quantity—there are only 50 of each available world-wide! What's so special about them? The answer is simple: they're 14 x 8 inches. They're not only deep in size, they're deep in sound as well. The biggest difference between the two is the shell material. One is made of maple (PMM148E-GMB) and offers a warm, woody tone, while the other boasts a brighter, sharper sound due to a steel shell (PST148E).
Tama have also expanded their Sound Lab Projects series to include a new snare, the Mirage Crystal Ice. The well-known brand have launched a line of acrylic drums in the past, so an individual snare made from this material was logical. This 14 x 6.5-inch snare drum is transparent and boasts a sound that's similar to wooden shells. The difference is that wooden shells absorb the energy of your playing, while the reflective properties of the acrylic material enhance it even more. There is also a limited number of these snares available so act fast if you want one!
A kit for on the go
You'll also find the characteristic sound and look of the acrylic Crystal Ice finish in the new Silverstar Cocktail Jam drum kit. This kit is completely unique. It's a compact set with small shells which means you can transport the whole thing to and from a gig in one bag. Don't let its small size fool you, though! This set sounds surprisingly full. It's a great set for travelling on the road, have limited space, or just want to treat yourself to something truly special.
