Pearl's New 2017 Lineup
At NAMM 2017, Pearl has finally revealed the pearls in their new 2017 collection. They have focused on snares this time around, and are offering, among others, a special Eric Singer and an Omar Hakim signature snare because both musicians have been loyal Pearl endorsers for the past three decades. If you're in the market for something a little more standard, Pearl's got you covered with their new Modern Utility Series.
Singer and Hakim
Both Eric Singer (KISS) and Omar Hakim have been loyal Pearl endorsers for the past thirty years, which is definitely worth commemorating! Pearl therefore presents the 30th Anniversary ES1465S Singer signature snare. It's 14 x 6.5 inches and based on the old Pearl Jupiter model. That means the shell has chrome-coated brass hardware. Meanwhile, one look at the OH1465S Hakim signature will tell you it's something special. It's also 14 x 6.5 inches, but is made of steel that's received a titanium nitride layer that involves a special chemical process. This means the colour changes depending on which angle you look at it.
These Pearl snares are not just pretty to look at, they also sound incredible. For drummers who prefer something a bit more basic, Pearl offers their Modern Utility series. It consists of five snare drums in various sizes. All have shells that are made of six layers of maple, which give them a warm, full sound that's suitable for any musical genre. These snares are available in 12x7, 13x5, 14x5, 14x6.5 and 14x8 inches and come in a Matte Natural or Matte Black finish.
