Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2 now Compatible with Serato DJ!
Exactly two months ago, Native Instruments announced that their Traktor Pro was finally compatible with the NXS2 series by Pioneer. Now, Serato DJ is following suit. That means the club standard, the DJM-900NXS2 DJ mixer with two CDJ-2000NXS2 tabletops, is compatible with the software by the three biggest DJ brands. Consider this an early Christmas present!
Smooth operation
With just the DJM-900NXS2, you can do a lot with Serato DJ. Thanks to the innovative NoiseMap, for instance, you can use your digital audio files without any problems. If you want to use your turntable or CD player, you'll need the DVS expansion package, but with the DJM, Pioneer has an ace up their sleeves! You'll no longer need an external interface to convert your audio files into audio waveforms as the powerful integrated sound card does that for you. Furthermore, the two USB ports enable you to switch seamlessly over to another DJ, even if they work with a completely different program.
The more the merrier
Because the mixer is usually sandwiched between two CDJ-2000NXS2 media players, the latter are also compatible with Serato DJ. You won't need any extra expansion packages to take advantage of this new functionality. As soon as your laptop is connected to the players, you can so anything you want with the software including scratching, making loops, adjusting the tempo, and of course, any of the basic functions. Navigate through the Serato discography on your screen, which also shows the artwork and waveform of your music.
In order to facilitate this functionality with your NXS2 set, you'll need to update the firmware of your mixer and your media players to 2.0 (DJM) and 1.51 (CDJ), respectively. go to the Pioneer website for additional info. For Serato DJ, you'll need the 1.9.5 version at the very least. If you only own the DJM-900NXS2, then you'll also need the DVS Expansion package.
