Pioneer Presents MK2 Successor to the XDJ-1000
A year after the release of the XDJ-1000, Pioneer presents the logical successor, the XDJ-1000MK2. This new version has been enhanced with subtle updates to ensure that the complete Pioneer range is up to date. With all the technological developments this brand is applying to its hardware and software products, it was about time they paid some attention to this compact tabletop Rekordbox player. If you want to make the most of your Rekordbox, you're sure to appreciate this revamped model.
Lets go through the features of this new MK2 one at a time, starting with the rear. The fader start control connection has been removed, making way for a digital audio output. The other connectors are unchanged, and you'll find a stereo RCA output, a Rekordbox network connector, USB port for HID and audio communication with your laptop, and a Kensington lock.
The sleek top of the XDJ-1000MK2 has been freshened up considerably. The touch screen has remained intact, as well as the backlit USB port that can be covered to protect it from dust when not in use. On the left, you'll find a few extra buttons to access Time Mode and Auto Cue. There's also an integrated quantize button since most DJs like to be able to access that directly.
The navigation on the right has also been improved. It now features LED lighting and the black rotary knob has been replaced with a silver-grey one that is easier to find in the dark. Hot keys around the navigation buttons allow you to browse through your tracks quickly and easily.
The RGB waveforms found on top-level Pioneer players have also been made available on the XDJ-1000MK2. By colour-coding certain frequencies, these waveforms can help you find specific sections in your music even easier than before.
All in all, the MK2 possesses updates that may not be especially ground-breaking, but they certainly do result in a more comprehensive and modern version of the popular XDJ-1000.
