Propellerhead Reason 9
It was announced last month, and today marks the official release of Reason 9. This popular DAW by Propellerhead is now in its ninth incarnation, which only serves to highlight Reason's popularity and excellent performance. We hope you've set aside the next few nights in your calendar, because you're not going to want to do anything else!
Reason Essentials 9
First, let's talk about Reason Essentials 9. This is more limited version of Reason 9, but it also comes with a lower price tag. The name really says it all: this package has all the essentials you need to produce a track. It has a number of good virtual synthesizers and effects, along with a sleek sequencer and a handy virtual mixer, all at the ready to serve your every mixing need.
Reason 9, the full version, is where the real creative challenge lies. You were probably already familiar with Rack Extensions, the virtual instruments and effects that emulate a huge studio rack full of devices, but now there's a new type of Rack Extension: Players. These are MIDI effects that can be thought of as assistants while you're composing or performing. The Dual Arpeggiator is a super interesting addition that can deliver some unexpected results. Note Echo is a MIDI delay that allows you to adjust parameters in the queue, such as pitch. Scales and Chords forces notes you play into a predetermined key.
There are plenty of other new goodies, so we invite you to take a look at the product pages for a more extensive overview. Reason 9 is available in a number of different editions: the full version, two types of upgrades, an educational version, and the Essential version. All editions are available in English, German and French.
Reason 8 has been out for about 2 years now, and the new functions that come with Reason 9 are definitely worth the upgrade. We don't have any doubt that you'll be impressed with the new, surprisingly streamlined package.
