Roland Presents the WEARPRO Mic: 3D Stereo Microphones for GoPro
Roland recently presented stereo microphones in the form of a set of earplugs! The WEARPRO Mic is specifically designed for use with the GoPro Hero 3, Hero3+ and Hero4 cameras. As mentioned before, these microphones are specifically made to be used in combination with the GoPro Hero3, 3+ and 4 cameras (with the exception of the Hero4 Session), and can be connected via a mini USB cable. The omnidirectional condenser microphones are powered directly from the GoPro unit. With them, you can easily make high-quality stereo and binaural recordings; binaural is the audio equivalent of a 3D stereo image that's so realistic, the listener feels like they were physically there. This has to do with natural dampening and distortion that takes place due to the shape of the head. Before audio waves reach your ear drums, they are manipulated by the shape of your ear and aural passage - or did you think your ears were shaped that way purely for decoration? By placing microphones physically inside your ears, the audio is recorded precisely as you would hear it in your ear drums. You simply can't get more realistic than that!
