Yamaha Presents New HSI Studio Monitors
The first step in investing in a good audio editing setup is a good set of studio monitors. Yamaha has an excellent reputation thanks to their NS10. This wasn't necessarily the best monitor on the market, but it could be found in just about every studio. The HS series is still very popular today, and the brand-new HSI is proof yet again of Yamaha's reliable reputation for quality.
The HSI series
The new HSI is comparable in many ways to monitors in the HS series. Yamaha has clearly taken their customer's feedback into consideration when developing the HSI. What really mattered to many users was how the speaker could be mounted. Many studios place their monitors on a stand, but in smaller spaces (such as an editing van), it's preferred to mount them on the wall or suspend them from the ceiling. Now, using optionally-available mounting brackets, it's possible to do just that.
Models
Yamaha's HSI comes in a white and a black series, each including three models with 5, 6.5 and 8-inch woofers. The larger the woofer, the lower the tones it's able to produce. All three models have a 1-inch tweeter, which means they all possess the same high-frequency level. The highest tones are actually inaudible to the human ear, so you can be sure you won't miss anything.
We expect to be able to deliver these speakers in the third quarter of this year.
