The rise of the cassette came just as sudden as the fall. With the introduction of the MP3 player, all cassette tapes, decks Walkmans went out of production. What remains are millions of tapes full of classics, as well as music that people never heard of. Due to the introduction of the MP3, that music would remain unknown.
That is the reason why ION developed the Tape Express. The device is equipped with a USB that can be easily connected to your computer. In this way, you can convert all your old music on cassette tapes into MP3 files! The Tape Express can also be used as a conventional, battery-fed, compact Walkman that offers a great sound.
While you are transferring your music to your computer, the Tape Express is powered via USB. The Tape Express includes the EZ Tape Converter software which simplifies the transfer. This software can also be integrated directly into iTunes.

Installation of software 5 sec. Transfer of music in real time, very simple. I appreciate that.

Het toestel speelt veel te traag af, trekt regelmatig op naar bijna normale afspeelsnelheid om dan weer te vertragen.
Een bandje van 45 minuten, duurt bijna 58 minuten met deze speler.
Om muziek om te zetten naar mp3 (WAV) is het toestel waardeloos.
Het is enkel goed om te weten te komen wat er op een cassette staat en dan proberen om het liedje op een andere manier (CD, download, Spotify, ...) zien te pakken te krijgen.

Het bandje draait al snel te zwaar en dus klinkt de muziek vals.
In de gewone cassetterecorder geen problemen met hetzelfde bandje.
De gettoblaster dus maar meegenomen......

Maar: de stabiliteit van de afspeelsnelheid is een ramp. Steevast wordt de cassette te traag afgespeeld, en af en toe trekt het ding eventjes op naar de normale snelheid, wat bij slapstickkomedies heel grappig zou overkomen, maar als het gaat om het recupereren van oud muziekmateriaal dan is dit totaal ongewenst. Ik heb dit geprobeerd met verschillende (goed bewaarde) cassettes, en ze hebben er allemaal van. Het ligt dus duidelijk aan het toestel...
