Digital, mobile recorders are still quite popular for obvious reasons: they have all the necessary peripheral gear built in, so there is no need to lug around any additional equipment. The Tascam DP-24 allows you to record up to eight tracks in one go, and offers a total of 12 mono and 6 stereo channels, each with its own separate channel strip. The digital setup of the DP-24 offers you the ease of a digital mixer, combined with the familiar Tascam recording power. The recorder can be connected to a computer or laptop for data transfer via USB, but is also equipped with a built-in CD-RW drive that allows you to burn copies on location.

Inputs and storage options of the DP-24

The Tascam DP-24 features various analogue inputs, but also uses digital tracks, enabling you to combine vocals with previously played and recorded tracks, for example, with the additional benefit that the balance between the various sources can be adjusted on the spot. The recorder is equipped with eight inputs with switchable phantom power per four inputs - ideal when you're working with condenser microphones. Both microphone and line signals can be connected directly, and connector H can be switched to a Hi-Z guitar input. The DP-24 is able to record up to eight tracks simultaneously, and records straight to an SD card - a storage device that is much less shock-sensitive than a regular hard drive, ensuring high-quality data even under intensive use.

Channel strip and inputs assignment of the recorder

The digital setup of the DP-24 allows for a remarkably compact construction, featuring a single physical channel strip with endless rotaries, which can be assigned to any of the 24 tracks. Simply select a track and adjust the settings! A compact yet clear LCD display gives you a perfect overview and allows you to assign the eight inputs of the Tascam recorder to a channel.
