Yamaha's TRBX605FM is a 5-string electric bass guitar with a beautifully-balanced alder body and a magnificent flamed maple top. The 5-piece neck is made of maple and mahogany and has a smooth satin-gloss polyurethane finish that feels great in the hand. It's bolted on to the body and the joint has been specially developed to ensure the perfect balance of strength, vibration transfer and access to all of the frets.

Yamaha TRBX605FM: playing comfort, humbuckers and active/passive switch

The rosewood fretboard has a modern, flat radius that makes it easy to play fast runs and melodies. This bass doesn't just look and feel good, however, it has a great sound too. That's not just down to the wood types used or its construction, but also its hardware. There are two Double Coil YGD H5 Alnico V humbuckers that work in perfect harmony with the on-board controls. There's an active/passive switch that lets you use the 3-band EQ to accurately shape your sound in active mode. There's a master tone control for when you're in passive mode and other controls include a master volume and a balance knob. Needless to say, this gives you plenty of options to find the perfect tone.

Wrote the following about Yamaha TRBX605FM Natural Satin electric bass guitar

Na een gedegen en lange zoektocht naar een back-up bas, heb ik volgens mij de bas gevonden. Aangezien ik ook een 4 snarige Yamaha BB1500A bezit en hier zeer tevreden mee ben, waren mijn ogen op dit merk gericht. Helaas stond dit exemplaar niet in de winkels, maar gelukkig was er 1 op voorraad in Goes.Dus ik kon hem laten verschepen naar Rotterdam. Erg fijn, omdat je dan op je gemak kan testen. Ik had mijn eigen backline meegenomen voor het meest eerlijke geluid.

In deze prijsklasse is dit een waanzinnige mooie bas. De elzenhouten body steekt mooi af tegen het gevlamde esdoorn. Daarnaast is de 5 delige hals ook echt een plaatje om te zien.
Met zijn 3,8 kilo, is het ook prima vol te houden op het podium. Hij hangt mooi in balans.

De sound is zeer veelzijdig van wege zijn actieve/passieve schakeling. Ik werd voornamelijk erg blij van het mooie, volle, warme geluid met ontzettend veel definitie. Daarnaast maak je d.m.v. je EQ de mooiste toevoegingen qua laag/midden/hoog.

Enige kleine opmerking:
Voor een nog strakker geluid vooral op de B snaar, was een 35" scale nog beter geweest. Je merkt vanaf de 14e fret wat strubbelingen. Helaas zit daar weer een ander prijskaartje aan en kom je dan uit bij de duurdere 5 string modellen zoals de TRB1005J

Kortom, ik kan niet wachten deze bas op het podium uit te proberen.
