The result of their collaboration, the Dave Smith Instruments OB-6 polyphonic analogue synthesizer, is a great piece of technology with a delightfully retro look. Don't let its old-school controls and striking blue stripes fool you, though, the OB-6 is a brand new instrument with modern options such as MIDI, USB-MIDI, LEDs and room for hundreds of presets.
Characteristics of the Dave Smith Instruments OB-6
The Dave Smith OB-6 is a six-voice polyphonic analogue synthesizer with two discrete voltage- controlled oscillators, a sub oscillator and a noise oscillator per voice. Their combined signal is sent to a 12dB filter (with low-pass, band-pass, high-pass and notch functionality), so you can colour the spectrum. An analogue VCA follows, and a comprehensive, studio-grade effects section completes the picture. Along the way, you'll have plenty of possibilities to shape your sound by means of envelopes, LFO, various routing options and real-time controlling. In other words, you'll certainly get the chance to express yourself musically!
