By dedicating spaces for each task, such as arranging and mixing, the workflow becomes more streamlined, making the production process smoother and more intuitive. To access this feature, click on the Bitwig logo at the top of the screen, then alternatively click on the “File” tab, “Settings“, and “User”.

Efficient project management is key to a smooth workflow. Bitwig Studio’s Pop-up Browsers simplify the process, providing a centralised hub for all project-related assets. Manage samples, presets, and other project elements easily, ensuring everything is organised and readily accessible. This significantly streamlines workflow, allowing you to focus more on the creative aspects of music production. Utilise the Browser Panel anchored to the right side of the window, as well as the dynamic Pop-up Browser that appears when a plus icon (+) or folder button is clicked.

Bitwig Studio’s project nesting feature is a lifesaver when working on complex projects or collaborating with others. This not only enhances organisation but also facilitates a more collaborative and efficient creative process. You can easily switch between projects and copy both clips and device chains, just bear in mind that dragging clips between projects will maintain only the clip, not the automation or device chain.

The ability to nest devices in Bitwig Studio is a hidden gem. Most Bitwig devices possess one or more device chains of their own. These lower-level device chains, or nested device chains, solve several problems inherent to software-based music production. When you’re working with various track automation lanes in your Project view, it’s easy for things to get cluttered. To keep things clean and organised, you can use the Shift+click function. Simply Shift+click any of the tracks’ automation lane buttons to hide all of them. If you need to bring them back, just Shift+click the button again. This will help you keep a clear view while working with multiple automation lanes.

Bitwig Studio’s Audio Editor can be set to either Audio Events or Stretch view. Cmd/Ctrl+Alt+drag the waveform to stretch the clip in relation to the dragging distance, while the Shift key temporarily bypasses the grid for finer adjustment, making audio stretching easy and intuitive.
