A harmonica is a child-friendly musical instrument because it's easy to play, compact, robust and reasonably priced too. You can even get harmonicas in different colours!
Best harmonica for children?
There are different types of harmonicas available including tremolo, octave, chromatic and diatonic models. A diatonic harmonica (in the key of C) is probably the best choice for beginners (children and adults alike). That's why this is the only type you'll find in our Children's Harmonica category. If you're interested in other models, check out our main Harmonica category.
Playing technique
While a harmonica is easy to play, learning the proper playing techniques is probably a good idea, especially if the ultimate aim is to be able to play lots of different songs. There's lots of information available on the internet or videos on YouTube, of course, but often learning from a proper Harmonica Book helps players progress faster.
