Since playing the guitar on the sofa or a kitchen chair isn't exactly ideal, specialised guitar stools can do wonders for any guitarist's playing posture. And whether it's for the stage or rehearsal room, if you're looking for a good guitar stool, you'll find plenty to choose from right here.
The Right Guitar Stool
Sitting comfortably while playing is, of course, pretty important but what's even more important is being able to make music without anything getting in your way. Guitar stools are specifically designed for guitarists, so they usually have some unique features. They're higher than your average chair or sofa but then a bit lower than your average bar stool. They also have an extra-reinforced construction and some stools are designed so that your feet touch the ground - perfect if you need to reach your pedalboard. You won't find a guitar stool with armrests either since they'll only get in the way. In fact, most models will look like short bar stools; some will have a saddle-style seat that supports full freedom of movement; and some will sit a bit higher since they come fitted with a comfy footrest.
Fold-Down Guitar Stools, Backrests & Integrated Guitar Stands
A standard guitar stool will work for most guitarists, but if you're going to be spending a lot of time on your stool or have any back problems, it can be a good idea to get a stool with backrest. These kinds of stools are definitely recommended if there's a lot of waiting time between playing - so, maybe if you're part of an orchestra or big band. Some guitar stools even come with adjustable backrests so you can set it up to provide the optimum position, and for maximum convenience, you can get guitar stools with an integrated guitar stand and guitar stools that fold down into a neat tour-friendly package.
Adjustable Guitar Stools
Some guitar stools have a similar design to a standard bar stool, so a simple yet comfy round seat mounted on a fixed frame, but with some models you're able to freely adjust them so the stool can be set up to match your height. You can even find guitar stools designed for children, which are usually height-adjustable as well, so you can raise the height as your child grows.
Besides guitar stools, there are plenty of stools designed for other members of the band. You'll find some of them in our range of drum thrones and keyboard benches.
