A lot of the software that is used in the professional video editing business is quite expensive and not a valid option for regular consumers, though. With the Vegas series, Sony is offering a great alternative for a budget-friendly price - which is actually remarkably good! It offers you more than enough functions for your holiday, home and family videos, or for the music videos of your band. Are you an aspiring film director? This software package allows you to edit a full-fledged film as well. Spielberg would have loved a copy of Vegas when he was working on Jaws!
The third dimension

Why do things the hard way?
For a while now, Sony has owned these creative products that were developed in the 1990s by Sonic Foundry. Throughout the years, the packages have evolved and are now available in various editions that perfectly cater to the specific needs of consumers (who do not always necessarily require all available options). The various versions do share two characteristics, though: their great user-friendliness and their accessibility. In that respect, nothing has changed since the '90s, when the creative software first established its excellent reputation.
Extras compared to Movie Studio Platinum
Included in this Production Suite edition is the fabulous Sound Forge Audio Studio 10 package, alongside the Vocal Eraser tool. A large number of additional video effects and a great 3D credit roll generator are bound to keep you busy video-wise, and a DVD with tutorials is also part of the deal. All these wonderful extras certainly make this Vega Movie Studio HD Platinum 12 Production Suite software worth your consideration.

Inmiddels heb ik hiermee mijn Vakantiefilm van 2012 gemonteerd en gebrand op DVD.
Hier was ik mee gestopt omdat mijn Pinnacle programma steeds weer crashte.
Voorheen gebruikte ik altijd Pinnacle Studio 7, 8, 9, 11, en 14. Behalve met versie 7 en 8 heb ik hiermee altijd de nodige problemen ondervonden zoals: traag, regelmatige crashes (vooral in HD) Ook de helpdesk van Pinnacle was voor mij onbereikbaar. Ondanks de nodige problemen met het programma gemeld in diverse forums kwam er bij Studio 14 geen Updates beschikbaar. Je moest steeds maar weer een nieuwe versie kopen waar hopelijk de Bugs gefikst waren.
Totaal heb ik inmiddels ruim 80 minuten film gemonteerd en gebrand met Sony Movie Studio.
Ik moet zeggen dat Sony Movie Studio 12 voor mij een openbaring betekende. Ik monteer tegenwoordig met in HD opgenomen film (h.264 gecodeerd) op een Windows 64 bits computer. Met Sony Movie Studio gaat dit fantastisch. Aanvankelijk een probleem ondervonden met het berekenen van de grootte van de film en de ruimte beschikbaar op de bestemde DVD van 4.7 GB. Hierover contact opgenomen via E-Mail met de helpdesk van Sony. Deze hebben mij fantastisch geholpen. Bleek dat er een configuratie setting moest worden aangepast omdat ik gebruik maak van een wat oudere DVD brander.
(legacy burner) Ik kon mijn filmpjes wel branden maar moest zelf de beschikbare ruimte op de DVD berekenen en in de gaten houden. Met de aangepaste setting werkt alles naar behoren.
Kortom, voor mij betekend Sony Movie Studio 12 een aanwinst en een genot om mee te werken. Als je Pinnacle gewend bent is het wel even wennen hoe e.e.a. hier werkt mede vooral omdat de helpfile alleen in het Engels, Duits of Frans beschikbaar is.
Voordelen: Snel, soepele montage, goede kwaliteit rendering.
Nadeel: Geen Nederlandse beschrijving meegeleverd.
