General

The land of the digital piano never sleeps. Technology keeps developing, and so do digital pianos, as we can see with the Yamaha Modus F02 digital black piano, with looks as chic and modern as its technology. The keyboard has an authentic, luxurious feel thanks to the solid wood keys with synthetic ivory tops. And the linear graded hammers add that special realistic touch, offering keys that get lighter as you move up the keyboard.

The sound

Of course the sound is the most important aspect of any instrument, and Yamaha has added their Real Grand Expression technology to this piano - technology you might be familiar with from the newest Clavinovas. The sound it produces is music to your ears (literally), with the rich expression of a concert grand piano. Taking your finger off of the keys is almost as interesting as your attack thanks to the Smooth Release function, which allows your sound to resonate - an effect that is especially relevant with staccato notes. Finally, the acoustic optimiser is technology by Yamaha that works to bring the entire sound to its full potential.

Extras

Even without any extras, this is already a magnificent digital piano, but Yamaha wanted to do even more. Along with the piano sound you also get some extra sounds to play with, and you have the option to layer them or split them up. With a polyphony of 256, you can press all of the keys down even in dual mode, and still have 40 voices left over. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to understand that you're never going to have to deal with polyphony problems with this piano. Furthermore, you can use the built-in reverb to make your playing sound as if you're in a concert hall. And finally, you'll never miss a beat, because you can record it all in WAV format and save it to a USB stick to transport to your computer to listen to later.
