- The 250 Ohm edition of the Beyerdynamic DT990 headphones are compatible with Hi-Fi amplifiers and other fixed audio equipment with a powerful headphone output.
- To connect these headphones to extremely powerful headphone amplifiers, see the 600 Ohm edition.
- These headphones are NOT compatible with portable equipment like smartphones, laptops, and other USB-powered equipment etc. (for these applications, see the 32 Ohm edition. The 250 Ohm and 600 Ohm edition of these headphones have slightly better treble and mid performance than the 32 Ohm edition, but this feature is no longer apparent when the headphones are plugged into lower power equipment. The volume will also be incredibly low.
The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones are professional on every possible level. The open design and massive 5Hz to 35,000Hz frequency range results in spacious yet incredibly detailed and clear audio - all without having to shut out the rest of the world. The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones: Practical Comfort
These stereo headphones weigh just 250 grams and have been fitted with an ergonomic, padded and adjustable headband as well as swappable ear-cushions that come pre-coated in soft velour. The result is the kind of long-lasting comfort that can support long listening sessions. Thinking of everything, Beyerdynamic have also included a three-metre long coiled cable and a 3.5mm mini-jack to 6.3mm jack adapter.

Before obtaining the Beyerdynamic DT990 pro 250ohmws I did a lot of online research, my concerns with this model was the consensus on the CONS heavy bass, recessed midrange and exaggerated treble which can cause treble attack and fatigue on ears... Research came down to a choice of open back headphones namely this model and Phillips fidelio x2 or 2hl. I chose Dt990's and my choice for headphone DAC/amp was between Fiio K5 pros and Zen Dac. Ended up with Zen Dac. Result lovely sound, a lot of fun and more importantly I can play different genres of music. The Zen Dac is solidly built and the volume knob is a dream to use. Now most music sounds more tangible and I feel I am sitting in best seat infront of the stage. Even listening to old studio recordings of Chuck Berry's greatest hits can really show what the Dt990 can do with soundstage. And last but not least to date I have not had any treble attack or sibilance...

I am pairing these headphones with a Fiio E10K DAC/AMP. Previous headphones that I will compare to are the ATH-M40X.
Overall these headphones are great. Audio is crystal clear, you can pick up on so many more details, compared to cheaper headphones. With the AMP the bass is quite punchy. I have mostly listened to hip hop and piano/orchestra music and across those it has been splendid.
I have also played a few video games, the gun shots in Red Dead Redemption 2 sound incredible, I can't quite describe the difference compared to my previous headphones, but it is wonderful.
Almost forgot, but the comfort of these headphones is remarkable. Often times I feel like I am not wearing any at all. Incredibly well cushioned, the clamping force is enough to keep the headphones in place, but not to the point you feel your head being squeezed. The build quality seems amazing, and was one of the main reasons I chose these, as I had to super glue my M40X back together countless times.
I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone. This isn't the most technical review, just a guy who is starting to get into higher end audio, but these are truly great. Most comfortable pair of headphones I've worn so far, and the quality for the price seems great to me.

These headphones are amazing. i spend long hours during the night having to use headphones for composing music when the kids are in bed and these are the comfiest things iv ever had on my head. One MAJOR win for these headphones is a much lesser degree of fatigue on the ears as well as physical pressure on the face. The open back design clearly allows you to chat to the person in the room without taking them off, and Im quite convinced that since they are open back, the sound pressure levels (SPL's) are less, and i think this is what has helped me go do a nights work and not feel like s**t afterwards with dodgy ears and a sore jaw. Ill say it again, these are by far the comfiest things iv ever listened to music on and cant recommend them highly enough.
one thing though, id recommend using a headphone amp or similair for these. I use the ART4 headphone amp and i usually have the volume set to around 4 and thats a good volume. plug them into your phone however and they will be a little quiet. still good but youll find youll have the volume high

De Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm is een absolute topper! Het open-back design zorgt voor een ruimtelijk en gedetailleerd geluid, perfect voor mixen en mastering. De oorkussens zitten heerlijk en maken lange luistersessies moeiteloos. Aangesloten op mijn audio-interface klinkt hij fenomenaal, met kraakheldere hoge tonen, gebalanceerde mids en een strakke bas. Let op: een goede hoofdtelefoonversterker is wel nodig om het maximale uit deze koptelefoon te halen. Al met al een fantastische aankoop en een echte aanrader voor iedere producer of muziekliefhebber!

Veel product reviews gezien op Youtube en besloten de DT 990 Pro in 250 Ohm versie aan te schaffen. Wauw wat een fijne koptelefoon. Heb hem in mijn studio aangesloten op een Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 interface en het volume is absoluut meer dan ruim voldoende. Ik vergelijk hem hier met 3 andere koptelefoons die ik in gebruik heb (Sennheiser HD 485, AKG K121 en AKG K271 MkII) en serieus deze DT 990 is zoveel beter qua geluid en ook draagcomfort. Super happy met deze aankoop, dit wordt mijn "go-to" koptelefoon voor al mijn mix- en masterwerk.
