Meinl PRO-TABLA Professional Tabla Set

General

This set of Meinl PRO-TABLA includes one 5.5-inch dayan and one 9.5-inch bayan. Originating from India, the tabla comes with centuries worth of heritage and, as such, the dayan is made using high quality mahogany with a goatskin head tuned by strong tension ropes and wooden tuning blocks. The deeper and larger, bass-toned bayan is shaped using kapur hardwood and has a bell-like quality of tone and can be manipulated to produce a range of sound effects.

Meinl PRO-TABLA: Unique Batter Heads

Unique to the tabla is the layered formation of the batter heads. The white outer ring is referred to as the keenar and helps quell any of the more obnoxious overtones while the black inner circles of the skin maintains detailed tone.

Both tabla included in this highly professional set have been traditionally and beautifully hand-carved by specialists in India and come complete with a decorated set of ring pads in which they can nestle while being played.
