General
Tablas have been used for centuries in musical styles from India and Asia. With the TABLA, Meinl supplies a set consisting of an 8.5-inch Bayan and a 5.5-inch Dayan. The Dayan is played with the right hand and has a high sound. The largest drum, the Bayan, is played with the left hand and is used for the bass part. You can easily change the sound of the Dayan using the wooden tuning blocks. The blocks are attached to leather cords which is not only functional but also gives an authentic look. A tablaset for the enthusiastic percussionist.
Meinl TABLA: authentic
The 8.5-inch Bayan is made of chrome-plated brass which provides a warm deep sound. Rosewood is used for the Dayan shell and is praised for its full sound. On the top, natural goatskins adorn these tablas. There is a black dot in the middle of the sheet which ensures a clear sound. You can play tablas with your hand as well as your fingers and produce various effects. Traditional embellishments provide a rustic look. You receive special rings that keep the tablas in place during playing. With the included tuning hammer, you can change the tension on the sheet. An authentic tabla set that shows pure craftsmanship.
