General
If your studio has a Mac with a Thunderbolt connector as its hub, the Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt Octo Core DSP card is a great asset. It features eight SHARC processors that take a load off your computer when you're running UAD Powered plugins. Let this external DSP card take care of your UAD plugins, and the processors of your Mac are free to handle other plugins and virtual instruments. You'll be able to make more comprehensive mixes without sacrificing any processing power. As an additional treat, the DSP card comes with a number of Universal Audio's fantastic analogue plugins. You certainly won't be the first producer who used these plugins to achieve a delectable analogue sound.
The Universal Audio UAD-2 Thunderbolt Octo Core's plugins
Universal Audio's plugins emulate the sound and behaviour of classic analogue gear in a remarkably natural way. You can choose from an extensive selection of nearly sixty plugins, developed in collaboration with some of the most prominent brands in the professional audio business. Pick your favourites from emulations by Studer, SSL, Manly, Empirical Labs, Neve, Roland, Lexicon, Pultec, SPL and others. The Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt Octo Core comes standard with the Analog Classics plugin bundle.
Powerful DSP processors
There are two different UAD-2 Thunderbolt cards: the Quad and the Octo. The Quad has four SHARC processors, while the Octo is equipped with eight, ensuring even more processing power. As the Universal Audio plugins only use the processing power of your UAD 2 card, your system is able to handle more automations, tracks, other effects and virtual instruments. If you're still short on DSP power, it's possible to daisy-chain up to six DSP cards.
