In the 1960s, the Les Paul seemed to be on its way out, so Gibson introduced a new Les Paul model which was shortly after dubbed the SG. The SG Bass: A True SG

To counter this, there's an NYT Bass mini humbucker at the bridge position that is responsible for producing a clear, defined tone.
