Snare pads and tom pads are important electronic drum kit parts. These kinds of drum pads are designed to imitate the sound and feel of acoustic drums. The advantage of using electronic drum pads is that they don't actually make any sound on their own; instead, the sound is produced by a drum module. Many drum pads feature a rubber surface, but some have a mesh head. Mesh head pads offer a more natural response than rubber snare pads and tom pads. Sometimes drummers choose to use mesh heads for the snare pads and rubber for the tom pads. You'll also find that pads differ in the number of zones they offer. Two-zone pads, for example, can produce different sounds depending on whether they're hit in the middle or on the edge. Be sure to check out our electronic cymbals while you're at it!
