Category information

Whether you're looking for a daisy-chain cable to link up multiple guitar effect pedals or a pedal power cable with a non-standard plug or reversed polarity, you'll find what you need in our range of guitar effects power cables.

9V DC Guitar Pedal Power Supply Daisy Chain Cables

While most effects pedals run on 9 Volts, if you own a handful or more it's never very practical to plug each pedal into its own 9V power supply. To power multiple pedals with a single power supply, it's much cleaner to use a daisy-chain cable, which is technically a kind of multi-cable. That said, it's important to first make sure that your power supply has the capacity (in amperes) needed to power all of the pedals you want to hook up. You can easily check this by adding up the power consumption of each pedal. The sum must be lower than the maximum power capacity of the power supply. Say your overdrive effect consumes 17mA, your chorus effect needs 48mA and your digital delay demands 220mA. In this case, a 500mA power supply provides enough juice to run all three pedals. Just bear in mind that while it's fine for the ampere rating to be higher than needed, the voltage as well as the polarity (centre-negative or centre-positive) must always match the specifications of your pedals to avoid damage.

Picking Up a Guitar Pedalboard Power Supply

At Bax Music, you can shop for all sorts of power supplies and power bricks, as well as matching power cables like standard 2.1mm centre-negative barrel plug cables. If you happen to own an effect pedal that requires a different power cable, you can often get away with using an adapter cable or polarity converter. If you still need one or two, we also stock jack leads and patch cables.
