New Casio CTK and LK Series Keyboards

Friday 7 April 2017 by Richard | Bax Music

Casio have added five new models to their renowned CTK and LK keyboard series. The CTK series welcomes the CTK-1500, the CTK-2500 and the CTK-3500, while the LK series adds the LK-135 and the LK-265. These models are ideal for starters but their range of possibilities makes them an excellent choice for more advanced players too.

CTK-1500, CTK-2500 and CTK-3500

The CTK-1500 has 61 keys, 120 sounds and 70 rhythms as well as another 50 rhythms in Dance Music mode. It's also got the Lesson Lite practice system that can also be found on the next model up, the CTK-2500. This keyboard has piano-look keys, 400 sounds and 100 (plus 50) built-in rhythms. The CTK-3500 is the most comprehensive model of the three. It has 61 piano-look keys that are also velocity-sensitive. That's means you get a softer sound when you play the keys more gently and a louder sound when you press them down harder. There are 400 sounds and 100 (plus 50) built-in rhythms on this model too.

LK-135 and LK-265

The first thing you'll notice about the LK-135 and LK-265 keyboards is that the keys light up. That's a handy option to have as it can help you learn to play more quickly. A maximum of four keys are lit at any one time. If you'd prefer to play without the lighted keys you can simply switch this feature off. The Casio LK-135 has 61 piano-look lighted keys, 120 sounds and 70 rhythms as well as another 50 rhythms in Dance Music mode. Its got the Lesson Lite practice system as well. The larger LK-265 adds velocity sensitivity to the keys for an improved dynamic response. It has 400 sounds and 100 (plus 50) rhythms on board.

Learning possibilities

These keyboards all have a built-in lesson system that can help you to learn to play the way you like best. You can just play, of course, or you can read musical notation along the way. Casio will even help you learn to play your first songs using Lesson Lite its step-up learning tool. The CTK-2500, CTK-3500 and LK-265 are all compatible with Casio's Chordana Play app too, that offers even more learning possibilities and is available for Android and iOS devices.

Casio Dance Music mode

In addition to the built-in songs, sounds and rhythms, the new keyboards feature Casio's Dance Music mode, which allows you to easily create dance tracks in a flash. Using the Build-Up play function, you can make a track using just one finger! The first seven black keys are used for this function while the white keys in between can be used to add drums, bass, synths and effects.
