General
TC Electronic present a worthy successor to the first version of the Flashback X4: the Flashback 2 X4 with MASH function! Now, you can push the 3 delay presets even further than before with a simple stomp on one of the footswitches. Naturally, the looper has ben kept on-board and lets you record up to 40 seconds of audio. Next to the usual studio quality delay effects, TCE have packed the new and improved Flashback with the Crystal delay. Inspired by and based on the popular Sub 'N' Up's polyphonic octave algorithm, this lush-soundin effects helps you create sparkling soundscapes.
The Flashback 2 X4: MASH & Tap Tempo
While you'll be mainly focused on your fingers moving across the fretboard, the footswitches of this TC Electronic pedal open up a large number of options to keep the delay in check. By holding down one or more of the MASH footswitches and applying pressure, a specified parameter for every delay can be extensively controlled. There's a tap tempo footswitch to adjust the pace in real-time if needed, while the Global Tempo mode sets all of the delays to the same speed settings at once.
Modulation Engine & Six Slots For Custom TonePrints
Next to the Crystal delay and looper, the Flashback 2 X4 is home to 8 delay presets that TCE-fans will undoubtedly already be familiar with. It goes without saying that the stompbox offers the possibility to load in TonePrints via a USB cable or smart device. You can find the six custom slots using the Mode button and, when you download the TonePrint app via the TCE website, you'll find that each delay sound can be tweaked to taste before you add it to your arsenal of effects. Thanks to the newly added Modulation Engine, it's even possible to include flanger and chorus effects in these user presets.
Subdivide & Sync
Just like its widely acclaimed predecessor, the Flashback 2 comes with an extensive and potent feature pack. Not only can the level, feedback and delay be accurately set using the 3 right-most pots, the Subdiv button allows you to choose between 10 note values and your custom subdivision. MIDI IN and THRU connectors let you sync up the tempo to that of external devices and, in addition, you're free to toggle true or buffered bypass and switch the cleans on or off at will using the controls round back.
