The more elaborate LED lights, light effects and movingheads become, the more DMX channels we need these days. It is not inconceivable that a single movinghead already gobbles up around sixteen channels. With the knowledge that a single DMX universe offers 512 channels, that number of sixteen still seems manageable. But how many lights are hanging in large event halls? The somewhat larger DMX consoles will also have more DMX outputs, four for instance. In that case, a multi cable is a good idea, for the same reason that there are multi cables for audio mixing consoles.
