SKB Static Shock Rack 3U 19-inch flight case

General

The SKB 3RS Series Static Shock Rack 3U is a transport case for 19-inch rack-mounted equipment, designed with protection as its priority. The case is lightweight, yet shockproof, waterproof and dustproof. This makes it an excellent choice for transporting sensitive electronics that need to withstand not only impacts but also environmental influences. The case is made from LMDP (Linear Medium Density Polyethylene) and meets (or exceeds) the MIL-STD 810H standards for ruggedness.

Shockmount system and load capacity

This 3U version incorporates a set of 8 elastomeric shock absorbers. These absorb shocks and vibrations during transport and are designed for a standard payload of 40 to 150 lb. If you have heavier loads, an optional upgrade to 160 to 300 lb is available via additional shock absorbers, but these must be fitted by SKB itself (special order). This allows you to tailor the protection to your rack configuration and the total weight of your equipment.

Rack rails, lids and practical details

The 3RS shock rack cases have a standard 19-inch rack width in accordance with EIA/ECA-310-E and are fitted with square-hole rack rails. This means they accommodate both #10-32 (US) and 6 mm (international) cage nuts, which are included. To provide extra space around deeper rack equipment, the case has a 2-inch-deep front lid and a 5-inch-deep rear lid. Edge castors make moving the case easy, whilst stacking ribs/lugs, recessed stainless steel hardware, 8 spring-loaded comfort-grip handles, an automatic pressure relief valve and lid hangers complete the case.
