SKB Static Shock Rack 4U 19-inch flight case

General

The SKB 3RS Series Static Shock Rack 4U has been designed for the safe transport of sensitive 19-inch rack-mounted equipment. This case is lightweight, yet shockproof, watertight and dustproof, and is also resistant to heat and chemicals. The rotomoulded casing is made from LMDP (Linear Medium Density Polyethylene) and meets (or exceeds) MIL-STD 810H. This makes it a serious choice for touring, hire, broadcast and permanent installations where you don’t want shocks, dust or moisture to damage your equipment.

Shockmount interior and load capacity

The 4U version is fitted with 8 elastomeric shock absorbers that effectively dampen vibrations and impacts during transport. The standard payload range is between 40 and 150 lb, more than sufficient for many common 4U setups. For heavier configurations, an optional upgrade to 160 to 300 lb is available with additional shock absorbers, but this is a special order and must be installed by SKB itself. This ensures the shock mount continues to function properly, even under higher loads.

Rails, lids and ease of transport

The case is built to the 19-inch standard (EIA/ECA-310-E) and uses square-hole rack rails. This allows you to use both #10-32 (US) and 6 mm (international) cage nuts; these are supplied. The rail-to-rail depth is 23.75 inches (24-inch version). For extra space, there is a 2-inch-deep front lid and a 5-inch-deep rear lid, which is useful for deeper rack equipment. Edge castors, 8 spring-loaded comfort-grip handles, stacking ribs/lugs, coupling straps and lid hangers make it practical to use.
